It is only recently that I have decided to take my art skills to the wider community as a communication and artistic tool with a variety of:
In 2012 I decided to get involved with The Confederation Of Community Groups in Newry & Mourne, concentrating on 9 community organisations.
My intentions are to take my art to these groups who would otherwise have very little access to working with professional artists.
Working closely with community leaders I encourage the youth to get involved positively and creatively in workshops, both indoor and outdoor.
The aim is to transform run-down areas within individual communities, turning blank wall and floor space into creative and colourful works of art.
Getting the youth involved in these projects offers a real sense of responsibility and pride, turning negative spaces into very positive spaces and giving the youth a creative voice, within “Youth Culture”.
The age range of children I work with is from 8 years to 16 years.
Professional Certifications
Before any of my projects could materialise into visual works of art I completed the following mandatory courses :
- Community Sector Training in : Child Order And Child Protection
- Vetted by Access Northern Ireland : Full clearance issued
- Completed : Teachers – Beginner Course at Jumping Clay Branch Academy : Warrenpoint
* All of the above 3 points were successfully completed in 2012 and certificates awarded.
I continue to network and meet with the Confederation Of Community Groups and community leaders.
New and exciting projects are planned for the future and I look forward to working with community associations / leaders and most important, the youth.
I will also be undertaking adult art classes within the community, offering a 2 hour, stress-free, therapeutic art class in oil, acrylic or watercolour painting.
If you would like to get involved in any current or future projects, please contact me and I will respond to your query.
